Re: “Waste: The Dark Side of the New Coffee Craze

am pleased to announce a new pilot program that will upcycle used coffee pods into food, energy and other useful products.
Our Company "FERTILE GROUNDS" will place recycling bins in major supermarket chains across the country. Customers will simply drop the coffee pods in the receptacle on their way into the store.
"FERTILE GROUNDS" will pick up the used coffee pods which in turn will be used in a variety of ways.
First and foremost, "FERTILE GROUNDS" will utilize the used coffee grounds and filter paper to produce Oyster mushroom home garden kits. Oyster mushrooms are nutritious, fast growing and fun to cultivate. Participating grocers can also sell our fresh, locally grown mushrooms in their stores. Over 80% of the mushroom kits packaging will come directly from the plastic body of the coffee pod. The package is designed to be used as a bird feeder when the mushroom harvest is complete. Next, the aluminum portion of the coffee pod will be recycled using traditional methods while the remaining plastic parts will be used to produce energy for each regional mushroom farm.
Months of planning have gone into the launch of the program. A press release will be going out at the end of January detailing the "FERTILE GROUNDS" mission and its strategic partners.
