Eddie Hart and co-author Dave Newhouse discuss Hart's East Bay upbringing and track career that led him to the tragic 1972 Munich Olympics. Support from family and mentors helped guide Hart as he grew into one of the top prospects for gold at Munich—before a missed schedule change led to Hart's disqualification for the 100. He describes handling the disappointment and coming back as anchor for the gold 400 relay team. Hart went on to be an highly-regarded coach and mentor. The terrorist attack on Israeli athletes opens the book, and interwoven are the stories of other competitors.
