This provocative documentary takes an unusual tack in spotlighting the activities of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), a shadowy US national security strike force that has targeted such “enemies of freedom” as Anwar al-Awlaki, the American citizen killed by a drone attack for his inflammatory ways. Director Rick Rowley watches as Jeremy Scahill, an investigative war correspondent for The Nation, follows the JSOC’s bloody fingerprints from Afghanistan to Yemen to Somalia and beyond. What they, and we, learn is deeply disturbing and something we rarely see reported in major news media. Further, Scahill points to President Obama as the one who orders the lethal strikes – assassination by presidential decree. Written by Scahill and David Riker. (90 min.)
Director: Rick Rowley
Producer: Anthony Arnove, Jeremy Scahill, Brenda Coughlin, Scott Roth, Jess Search, Randall Wallace and Sandra Whipham
