Dedication of Market on Ningh St. -- July

When: Sun., Dec. 2, 1-3 p.m. 2007
Price: free

Among many local notables that Anthony Holdsworth captured in his painting "Market on Ninth St. - July" are acupuncturists-herbalists Richard Fong and Byron Fong, son and grandson of Fong Wan, who practiced Chinese medicine in early 20th-century Oakland Chinatown. On Dec. 2, the 10.5-by-11.5-foot painting by the Oakland-based Brit, best known for his cityscapes, is being installed in the Valley Center for the Performing Arts at HolyNamesUniversity (3500 Mountain Blvd.Oakland). A wine and hors d'oeuvres reception accompanies the formal dedication. 1 p.m. HNU.edu
