Re: “From Trash to Treasure ... and Back Again

this review is SUCH BULLSHIT. Has the reviewer read any of Joe's work? That's the thing with art is reviewing it is subjective. This was not an objective review however. I was the one who jokingly said "we drove two hours". It was a pleasure to see him at all. Dude hasn't performed in a while and let's not forget it's his show. Joe has a HUGE fan base. Whatever pretentious hipster wrote this article more than likely has a degree in art from some second rate school. Cause if you can't create art you review it or teach it right? Joe's 'crazy persona" is not an affectation. Not only was this article self indulgent banter, it's complete crap. The ironic thing is, the dude who wrote this article will never even get this criticism. He will merely take any attention as an ego massage. Why don't you go review movies, The new Indiana Jones is coming out soon....

Re: “From Trash to Treasure ... and Back Again

I just re-read the article. Joe didn't ask anyone to buy his books. He dosen't cater to anyone. That's what makes him so kickass. Whoever wrote that article is an idiot and I wish I could have talked to them personally at the show after Joe's appearance. The show was free, he can play or not play as long as he wants. Maybe the reviewer didn't get it because Joe could give a shit about arbitrary artistic rules and simply is who he is. The person obviously has never spent any time with Joe "his former pseudo weird personality to hawk poetry books" what a crock of shit. I'm a huge fan but I don't have the pleasure of knowing him personally. However, I know many who do. Joe is a true artist and the reviewer for some Oakland Arts paper will NEVER get him.

Re: “From Trash to Treasure ... and Back Again

Joe is an absolute genius. I have read his first book of poetry over 100 times. He's a huge influence on my writing, and the show was amazing. He was even nice enough to pose for some photos when I gave him a copy of Dishwasher Pete. Having read both his books of poetry and novel SWAMP, I can only hope Joe keeps publishing and writing.
I thought the show was great!
