This movie sees director Frank Oz, who last floundered with The Stepford Wives, return to classic form and, by classic, we mean at least trying to be as absurdly funny as his classic Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Funeral doesn't quite succeed, but, hey, that's a high bar to meet anyway. An ensemble comedy full of intersecting storylines, its basic premise is this: In the middle of trying to make sure his father's funeral goes off without a hitch (it doesn't), Daniel (Matthew MacFadyen) must contend with an irate little person (Peter Dinklage) on strong hallucinogens who wants lots of money to keep quiet his affair with the deceased. High jinks and hilarity ensue.
