Crime drama, Thriller
A physically and emotionally scarred woman (Noomi Rapace) forms an unlikely relationship with her neighbor, a taciturn hit man (Colin Farrell), with their separate thirsts for vengeance uniting them, at first. The mechanisms of revenge turn out to be not as interesting as their halting, defensive love affair, so there’s a small writing problem. Rapace and Farrell are actually quite good together as wounded urbanites — she’s surprisingly tender and his eyes have never been sadder. Isabelle Huppert costars, improbably, as the Rapace character’s mother. Directed at cross-purposes with himself by Niels Arden Oplev, who handled Rapace in the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Screenplay by J.H. Wyman. (110 min.)
Director: Niels Oplev
Producer: Neal Moritz, Stuart Ford, Deepak Nayar, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Ori Marmur, Reid Shane and Michael Luisi
