Re: “Tragedy on the French Trail

Somehow mountain bikers are indicted in spite of not being involved. ( reader's comment) I can honestly say I have never had my bicycle act on its own especially in a panicked mode.
"There is no licensing or regulation process that recreational or competitive horseback riders have to pass before being given responsibility over a 1,000- to 2,000-pound animal. "
There is also no process that dog owners are required to undergo prior to unleashing what can be a deadly animal on the trail.
I am not against horses or dogs. My girlfriend is a horse trainer and my best buddy is of the canine persuasion. What I am against is antagonistic attitude against mountain bikers in the east bay area. I ride many nearby areas I.E. the Santa Cruz Mountains where somehow hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers all coexist peacefully. I sincerely wish the east bay area could attain such maturity.
