Das Racist

When: Fri., March 30, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $15, $20

When you think of local champions of Bay Area rap, Das Racist isn't always the first name to come to mind. But the young, gregarious, and famously unpredictable group, whose members commute between Queens and the Bay Area, among other places, is spearheading what should be one of the most substantial showcases of a new wave of hip-hop, both locally and otherwise. Seattle's Nacho Picasso along with producers Blue Sky Black Death probably come closest to the Das Racist experience, but there's also local lights such as Oakland's Main Attrakionz and San Jose-based Antwon filling out the bill (check out Antown's recent slapper, "Helicopter"). Austin, Texas emcee Western Tink will also be in attendance, backed by beats from another talented producer, Beautiful Lou. Oakland is also representing with supporting sets from Bobby Peru, Neto187, Friendzone, RnB Millionaires, and more: At 103 Harriet (103 Harriet St., SF) on Friday, Mar. 30 at 9 p.m., $15, $20
