Play is not only important for children to learn, it is important for adults too. Play relieves stress and encourages problem solving and positive metal states, when done genuinely. Play brings about interaction and connection, softens us, and helps us think and see more clearly. So it is not only important to encourage children to play, it important to be playful ourselves--at any age. Being playful ourselves, also, has the benefit of being the example by which children can learn to play, genuinely and responsibly.
