Pierre Dulaine is an Arabic-speaking American dancing instructor, half Palestinian and half Irish, who returns to his birthplace of Jaffa, Israel, on a mission: to teach ballroom dancing to Palestinian and Jewish pre-teen school kids as a way for them to relate and trust each other. This worthwhile feel-good documentary by Hilla Medalia (To Die In Jerusalem) shows how he does it, step by difficult step – it was hard to get them to loosen up, especially for the Muslims, even to the concept of boys and girls facing each other. But Dulaine’s ultimate aim, “to give the Palestinian children the chance to better themselves,” makes a brave first move right before our eyes. Written by Philip Shane and Medalia. Among the producers: LaToya Jackson and Morgan Spurlock (88 min.).
Director: Hilla Medalia
