Crucible Holiday Gifty Art Sale Staff Pick

When: Dec. 12-13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 2009
Price: free
With its fire operas, steam-punk edifices, and free industrial-art workshops, the Crucible foundry is undoubtedly one of Oakland’s greatest amenities. Having just opened a gallery in downtown Oakland, it appears to be gaining momentum — particularly in its mission to bring art exhibitions back into the craft realm. This weekend the organization will hold its annual holiday gifty art sale featuring artisan vendors who work in print, glass, ceramics, wood, jewelry, metal, photography, and mixed-media. Refreshments, workshops, demonstrations, and special cameos from Santa will round off an exciting two-day bazaar. Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Crucible (1260 7th St., Oakland). 10 a.m.-4 p.m., free.
