The board of supervisors made the surprise announcement about Muhammad this afternoon after emerging from closed session. County counsel for the board gave no reason for placing Muhammad on leave.

One of the allegations against Muhammad, according to the county source, involves the sexual harassment of a county employee.

The dramatic fall of the 38-year-old Muhammad comes as a shock to many community members, who maintained high hopes for the young, promising county official.
