Re: “Musical Formats

I miss KMAX. It had a magically eclectic mix of songs that kept you tuned in. When it entered the Bay Area, it sent a shockwave through the other stations in the area. Any that played similar content soon changed their formats to target wider audiences, and it's passing has left a void in our area's radio waves.

While KMAX was around, my CD collection gathered dust. Now, I can only handle so much station hopping before I stick one in and turn off the radio. After KMAX, all of the other stations are hopelessly dry.

Entercom: You screwed up big changing it's format. What KMAX was missing was advertising. I told everyone I knew about it, and got very positive feedback, but the station relied on this kind of word of mouth advertising.

And, to any other KMAX mourners out there, check out pandora.com. It won't help you during the long commute, but it's sure a great companion during the workday.
