Cookies for a Cause

Holiday wishes will now come true, thanks to generous East Bay diners.

For the second year in a row, Lark Creek restaurant in Walnut Creek and Yankee Pier in Lafayette participated in the Gingerbread Wishes campaign, offering $10 star-shaped freshly baked gingerbread cookies (with decorating kits included) on their dessert menus throughout the month of November -- with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The collaboration began after Lark Creek Restaurant Group CFO Jon Gologorsky's leukemia-stricken niece was granted a "wish" several years ago through the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a backyard garden that she could enjoy watching through her bedroom window.

The results are just in, and this year Lark Creek Walnut Creek (which is currently undergoing a major renovation: expect rattan furnishings and a fire pit) sold 312 cookies, raising $3,120. Yankee Pier sold 132, raising $1,320. Sweet!
