Company C Contemporary Ballet

When: May 25-26, 8 p.m. and Sun., May 27, 3 p.m. 2012
Price: $23-$45

In the finale to its tenth season, Company C showcases verve and versatility in a spring program that ranges from snappy jazz to modern dance. Fresh off a New York run, the company takes up residence at the Lesher Center for the Arts (1601 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek) on Friday through Sunday, May 25-27, to perform five favorite works from its expansive repertoire. The show starts with a trio of short pieces: Charles Anderson's Led Zeppelin-inspired Song Remains the Same and the moody Key to Songs, plus James Sewell's bebop-beatnik charmer Late. The dancers travel longer arcs in Peter Anastos' effervescent Footage, a tongue-in-cheek Fred-and-Ginger homage complete with white tie, tails, and a battle of the sexes; and in which light in the sky is us?, a contemporary epic choreographed by San Francisco's Gregory Dawson. Fri. and Sat. 8 p.m., Sun. 3 p.m.; $23-$45. 925-943-7469 or
