Charles Anderson leads his company further down the contemporary path this season, with edgy works and choreographers who push the boundaries of ballet. For Company C’s winter season at the Lesher Center for the Arts (1601 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek), Anderson commissioned Susan Jaffe, a former American Ballet Theatre star and emerging choreographic talent, to devise “Sogno di V,” with its “exhilarating” technique danced to Max Richter’s interpretation of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Well received in its 2013 debut, Yuri Zhukov’s “Railroad Joint” returns in expanded form, while Charles Moulton’s “Nine Person Ball Passing” is a witty, whimsical, and mind-bending spectacle of physical — and mental — agility. Anderson himself revives “A Night in Tunisia,” set to Dizzy Gillespie, and adds a new work titled “Between the Machine.”
