One gets the impression that the filmmakers behind College walked out of Superbad thinking, “How can we make a sequel to this without getting the rights?” Because they’ve done just that, casting a normal kid (Drake Bell), a foul-mouthed fat kid (Andrew Caldwell), and a geeky kid in glasses (Kevin Covais) to play the exact same parts as in Superbad. Here, the three high school seniors and BFFs head to their prospective college’s “preview” weekend to learn more about the campus — mostly, though, to party like college kids and get laid. Fraternity hijinks ensue, homophobic jokes pervade, and lessons are learned by one and all. Except none of it’s very funny. Or much of anything except a cheap knock-off looking to be Superbad-der (94 min.).
