Re: “VA Tech Shooter Obsessed with Collective Soul's "Shine"

Cho was teased and picked on for his shyness and unusual speech patterns. In English class at Westfield High School, he looked down and refused to speak when called upon. After one teacher threatened to give him a failing grade for not participating, Cho began reading in his strange, deep voice that sounded like he had something in his mouth. The whole class started laughing and pointing and saying, ‘Go back to China.’ There were some people who were really mean to him, and they would push him down and laugh at him. He didn't speak English really well, and they would really make fun of him. CNN and other sources reported that Cho had been bullied in high school, and that students worried that he had a "hit list" of other students he wanted to kill. No wonder he wrote: "I didn’t have to do this. I could have left. I could have fled. But no, I will no longer run. It’s not for me. For my children, for my brothers and sisters that you fuck, I did it for them… When the time came, I did it. I had to." Maybe Cho did what millions of children who are subjected by their peers to humiliation would love to have done and did not have courage so far. Now the American Educational System must consider ways of punishing those who humiliate their peers in American schools, so other Chos do not show up every year. Final word: Educate the American children to respect the differences.
