Cold Camping

When: Sun., Jan. 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 2010
Price: $18-$20

Hankering for a real winter? Start by hunkering down in an igloo. Don't know how?  This Sunday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the East Bay Regional Park District will host an afternoon of cold camping tips and techniques. LakeChabot (17390 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley) will be the setting for a much chillier, albeit imaginary climate designed to offer some help to first-timers who want to pitch their tents in the great wintry outdoors. Styrofoam will simulate snow caves, but dress warmly to get in the spirit of things. $18-$20. 1-888-327-2757 or EBParks.org
