.Club 90s Presents “Selena Night” at The New Parish

It has been two decades since the death of Selena Quintanilla, the undisputed queen of Tejano music. But her popularity and fandom only grows as time passes by. Last fall, MAC Cosmetics’ Selena makeup collection sold out within minutes of its release. It was so successful that the makeup company rereleased the collection — something that had never been done before for a MAC special collection. Thanks to Selena’s popularity, there are also endless club parties to honor her name and the legacy of her music. The Club 90s crew puts on one of the best “Selena Night” parties by far. Sure, any DJ can throw “Como La Flor” in the mix, but the Club 90s folks reach back into her older discography with songs like “Si La Quieres” from her start with Los Dinos. Not only will the DJ throw it back to those early tracks, but the first 200 people will get a free Selena pin, and everyone will have an opportunity to win prizes for best Selena costume.

Friday, Aug. 25, 9 p.m., 18+, $12, The New Parish, 1743 San Pablo Ave., Oakland, TheNewParish.com
