Advocacy documentarians Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (Trouble the Water) take aim squarely at billionaire rightwing donors David and Charles Koch in a rough-house discussion of the devastating effect of huge amounts of money on the American political process. The main stage is Wisconsin in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election, when the Tea Party ran amok. The doc also visits three families of disgruntled, lower-middle-class Republican voters and learns their disappointment at being manipulated. Contains enough hate-filled stump speeches and Fox News blurbs to raise the blood pressure of any liberal, but the filmmakers’ point comes across: In a true democracy, even the richest person only has one vote. The distribution of this film was alternatively funded after public television chickened out of airing it (86 min.).
