After meeting via the travel/scavenging web site in late 2008 and realizing that they were both passionate animal-rights advocates, Shannon and Florian Radke fell in love. Shortly after their June 2010 wedding, they opened Cinnaholic, which sells 100 percent vegan cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies, and coffee. Take your pick from among 26 frosting flavors (including root beer, caramel, lemon, Irish Cream, and mint) and 25 toppings (peaches, peanut butter, marshmallows, cookie-dough chunks, semisweet chocolate chips, and more). The rolls are hefty and sweet. If they're expensive, it's because being 100 percent vegan is expensive, requiring the purchase of compostable containers and rare ingredients such as sugar that wasn't manufactured with "bone char," a substance made from superheated animal bones and used to process standard sugar.
