Originally written for live television as a Julie Andrews vehicle in 1957, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella only later became a stage musical, with a first production in London the following year. Despite the already-beloved story, it was never really among the hits of the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II songwriting team -- such as Oklahoma!, South Pacific,or The Sound of Music. Songs from Cinderella you may know, but more likely don't, include "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?," "In My Own Little Corner," and "Ten Minutes Ago." Megan Gallup and Nephi Speer, costars of Contra Costa Musical Theatre's previous fairy-tale musical Disney's Beauty and the Beast, reunite at the grand ball in CCMT's latest, directed by LesherCenter general manager Scott Denison. April 4 through May 3 at LesherCenter for the Arts (1601 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek) or 925-943-7469.
