Slow as malaria. A gay Italian man visits Dallas to meet his online pen pal, only to find that the pal has recently died, and it's up to the dead pal's living local pal to show the Italian around. So he does. All this in hushed, sensitive tones, with no spoken dialog in the first eight minutes. Director Yen Tan and writer Alessandro Calza may be trying for something new in a gay male character study — the two men's budding romance never gets off the ground, as in no sex — but the tone is so subdued, ushers may have to rouse sleeping audiences to get them out of the theater. With Adam Neal Smith as Jeff and screenwriter Calza as Andrea (87 min.).
