Chris Twist and Jason Steady

When: Thu., May 2, 9 p.m. 2019
Price: $10.00
It’s a cowboy’s world and we’re just living in it. At least that’s what it feels like when considering music trends in 2019. The “yeehaw agenda” is what the Internet is calling the recent resurgence of country western sensibilities that has taken over the every corner of the music industry as of late, as evidenced most recently by Lil Nas X’s chart-smashing country trap hit "Old Town Road". In step with the movement are Chris Twist and Jason Steady. Ordinarily independent singer-songwriters, the two paired up on their freshly minted LP Return of the Paisley Angels. The album combines Twist’s low-fi strumming with Steady’s pedal steel guitar to offer simple, country-pop melodies under 1960s-inspired vocal harmonies that deliver playful lyrics with a subtle twang. It’s as if the Beach Boys (pre-acid) got a flat tire on a road trip from Nebraska to California and were Exiled on Main Street. Giddy-up.
