Re: “Seniors Citizens’ Pot Shop Planned for Berkeley

Its strange how David Downs continually refers to the 40 Acres medical cannabis collective as a "speakeasy" when they have been asking for a collective permit since 2009 and there were no regulations concerning collectives, which were made legal by Measure JJ Berkeley, 2008, until 2012. He would learn that City of Berkeley wouldn't even accept a permit application and in fact pushed every permit application before 2012 back across the counter to them even though state law states that it is illegal for cities to not accept permit applications for legal uses. 40 Acres even brought to light the fact that the dispensaries were white dominated and didn't serve Berkeley's Black population, low-income population and senior population in Berkeley. We even exposed that the dispensaries in Berkeley, don't even possess permits and/or licenses themselves. All this talk about 40 Acres, yet, David Downs has refused to interview the 40 Acres MMGC. David, please get 40 Acres side of the story and stop attempting to bash us.
