Comedy, Drama
Novelist Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) floats another of his pathetic loser stories, this time about a sex addict named Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell) who contends with his senile mother (Anjelica Huston) and other emotional stresses while dressed up in funny 18th-century clothes for his day job at a theme park, and shtupping all available females. Laughs are hard to come by. Best bets are Kelly Macdonald as Victor’s pretty doctor (or is she?) and Brad William Henke as his burly “colonial” sidekick. Directed as if it were a life sentence in the salt mines by actor-adaptor Clark Gregg, who costars as Victor’s pricky boss, Lord High Charlie (89 min.).
