Chinatown Lunar New Year's Bazaar

When: Jan. 26-27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 2008
Price: free

Independent, observant, assertive, a problem-solver: That's what the Chinese zodiac says about people born in years associated with the rat -- which is just about to start. Since 2001, OaklandChinatown's Chamber of Commerce has organized an annual all-weekend Lunar New Year's Bazaar with lion dancers, fortune tellers, cooking demonstrations, and around 100 booths where visitors can buy mementoes and watch traditional artisans at work. This year's bizarre spans Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26 and 27, with booths throughout the neighborhood. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.
