Chez Panisse has lost its Michelin star.

Michelin Media released its San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country 2011 guide today. Part of this guide, renowned as an international culinary who's who, is its coveted "Bib Gourmand" list.

"A total of 519 restaurants are selected for inclusion this year. Of those, 74 are categorized as 'Bib Gourmands,' otherwise known as 'Inspectors’ Favorites for Good Value.' Bib Gourmands offer two courses plus a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less," reads Michelin's press release.

This year's East Bay Bib Gourmands include the Bay Wolf, Corso, FIVE, Picán, Vanessa's Bistro, and others. But California-cuisine ground zero Chez Panisse, formerly on the BG list, now isn't.

Time — and croutons — march on.
