Re: “State Threatens Viability of East Bay Green Energy Program

If you want to push solar, legislate that PG&E etc. must take and distribute solar-produced electricity. Why set up a layer of "choice" agencies? EBCE did not address this basic question in the information it sent us; it just enrolled us without asking.

Re: “The Express Lays Off Six Employees, But the Paper Continues On

Gammon understands news. A couple of the laid-off staff are opinionators who masquerade as journalists. There is a lot to report in Oakland and the east Bay, and we look forward to reading the Express for news.

Re: “Friday’s Briefing: Suspected Arsonist Arrested in Housing Development Fires; Massive Housing Project Proposed for West Oakland BART

@ Webb Clarke: Lee's late copout is worthless. The bakery gang was obvious and well-known for its thug ways long before 2007. They would march into city council meetings and make veiled threats to councilmembers. But Lee and Bay Area pwogwessives long ago abandoned a broad alliance of working people in favor of identity politics, decay of basic public services, endless corrupt looting of inner-city school districts, and toleration of crime.

Re: “Friday’s Briefing: Suspected Arsonist Arrested in Housing Development Fires; Massive Housing Project Proposed for West Oakland BART

Regarding the Muslim Bakery alleged arsonist: Congressperson Barbara Lee and former mayor Ron Dellums openly praised the Muslim Bakery gang operation. "Lee spokesman Nathan Britton said, 'Congresswoman Barbara Lee is on record supporting the bakery as a community institution.'" (SF Chronicle, August 3, 2007) Official tolerance of criminals in Oakland is one reason why it ranks among the top half dozen most unsafe cities in the country.

Re: “Federal Judge Blocks Oakland from Removing Homeless Camp

Before taking over Brookfield Village, we are told, "many of the same activists established the camp on a vacant city-owned lot in Fruitvale" - specifically, 12th St. at 23rd Ave. That huge mess was the site of two serious fires and a homicide within eight weeks. Instead, we are asked to focus on the exception, poster-child litigants who describe themselves as clean and sober women and children. Is it a constitutional right to run hazardous electricity and conduct hazardous cooking operations and to shoot 'em up?

Re: “East Bay Green Energy Program Launches Residential Service

@Dan L (Daniel Lempres?) : EBCE's Bright Choice was 1.5% less than PG&E when EBCE set the rate. However, the PUC raised the exit fee last month, wiping out the 1.5% savings effective Jan. 1. See a real news article by a reporter, not a publicity agent: https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…

Re: “East Bay Green Energy Program Launches Residential Service

"costs 1.5 percent less than the normal PG&E bill." Better double-check that. EBCE customers pay a fee per watt-hour to bear a share of the cost to build and maintain the transmission wiring, poles, transformers, and so on. And just last month PG&E persuaded the state Public Utilities Commission to raise that fee. But this puff piece has not a word on the hard facts.
