She says, "A TFA friend who is applying to do social work told me Teach for America is like this: You are walking with a friend by a river. You see a baby coming down the river. You jump into the water and you fish the baby out. Then you look and you see another baby so you fish that baby out. Pretty soon there are tons of babies coming down the river. Your friend says, 'You stay here and save the babies. I'm going upstream to find out who's throwing them in the river.' Do you stay or do you go? What if when you get upstream the problem is too big and you can't do anything about it?"
