Camille Paglia: "Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art"

When: Wed., Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $7-$17

She may be best known these days as a professional provocateur and self-described, all-purpose "dissident," but the history and meaning of Western art is really Camille Paglia's wheelhouse -- and she returns to it with Glittering Images, which she'll discuss on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (2621 Durant Ave., Berkeley). Images, which was released this week, is a collection of essays that analyze, evaluate, and contextualize 29 works of art, starting with Nefertiti's tomb and ending, improbably and effusively, with the works of George Lucas -- ultimately declaring the latter to be the world's greatest living artist, and his Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith a seminal work of art. Well, maybe Paglia's not quite done being a provocateur. 7:30 p.m., $7 for students, $10.50 for BAM/PFA members, $14 general.
