Caldecott Fourth Bore Underway

Looks like Oakland and Caltrans have reached a deal to carve another lane in the Caldecott tunnel connecting Oakland and Orinda. For years, Oakland has talked lawsuit if the plan goes forward, fearing that the city will have to deal with massive new levels of traffic. But even as Caltrans officials continued to insist no such traffic problems will happen, they agreed to give Oakland $8 million to offset new congestion. Now it goes before the City Council for approval.
