Cal Performances: San Francisco Opera Presents Rachel Portman's The Little Prince

When: Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, 3 p.m. Continues through May 11 2008
Price: $40, $50, $60

It's a glorious week of the new. The same weekend that families flock to the Cal Performances and San Francisco Opera coproduction of Rachel Portman's delightful opera, The Little Prince, pianist Paul Lewis plays the Ligeti that ends Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, DJ Mason Bates debuts his latest excursion into orchestral electronica with the California Symphony, and Berkeley Opera balances savage Bartók with charming Ravel. The choice is a hard one. But this being a family values paper, the child within says head to Telegraph and Bancroft for the West Coast premiere of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's beloved fable, then see where you're led. At UC Berkeley'sZellerbach Hall, from Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 11 at 3 p.m..$40, $60, half off for sixteen and under.SFOpera.com or 415-864-3330.
