To kick off Latino Heritage Month, the Bay Area will see an array of events that will showcase the Latinx community. One said event is the start of Mexican rock band Caifanes’s tour throughout the United States and Mexico. It’s fitting that the progressive band is hitting the road, given that it’s celebrating its 30th anniversary. (Its self-titled debut album was released on Aug. 28, 1988.) It was during the late ’80s and early ’90s that Mexico witnessed the birth of influential rock bands that would catapult the dominance of rock en español in the ’90s. This once-in-a-lifetime celebration is worth crossing the bridge for, whether you grew up with the band and want to sing along to some of its old-school tracks or if you’re a music lover on the hunt to discover amazing music from one of the most prominent Mexican rock bands of the past three decades.
