Re: “OPD Cop Caught Making Apparent False Statements After Injury Crash

OPD policy requires police officers to come to a complete stop at intersections.

Re: “Opinion: Why I’m Voting for Cat Brooks for Mayor of Oakland

Libby already flushed Oakland down the train. There are 9,000 homeless people in Oakland and Libby "housed" 80 of them in tool sheds. I am guessing none of you have actually gone to the homeless encampments. None of the unhoused want Libby to have a second term. Cat Brooks for Mayor of Oakland. Perhaps you should read this: http://dellumsinstitute.org/community-just…

Re: “Opinion: Why We, As Black Oaklanders, Are Voting for Libby Schaaf

Super desperate article by Libby's puppets. I suggest you read the "Housing Oaklands Unhoused" report written by organizations who have their finger on the pulse of the homeless issue and are on the ground working with the homeless population. Perhaps you two didn't know that the United Nations just figured in this conversation. " In a recent UN Report on Adequate Housing, the Special Rapporteur Leilani Farha decries that "the world has come to accept the unacceptable" with "nearly a quarter of the world's urban population living in informal settlements or encampments, most in developing countries but increasingly also in the most affluent. Living conditions are shocking and intolerable." The UN Report calls out only two US cities for human rights violations--Oakland and San Francisco, cities of great wealth and also escalating inequalities." Wake up you two and stop drinking Libby's Koolaid, you are an embarrassment - to yourselves.

Re: “No Punches Thrown in Oakland Council District 6

Going with Desley. She is not liked by City Hall because she wont go along with them continuing to throw Black folks under the bus. Wish I could vote for her 3 time.

Re: “Opinion: Why I’m Voting for Cat Brooks for Mayor of Oakland

Thank you Councilperson Rebecca Kaplan for your wisdom in Oakland's time of harshness, displacement, homelessness, lack of hope, insincerity, and complete lack of political will. The status quo will remain if Libby Schaaf is re-elected and the most marginalized in our City (my hometown) will continue to suffer and be ignored. Oakland deserves a new, thoughtful, and forward thinking mayor who will work to uplift all of us, not just the wealthy. Oakland, formerly and happily a blue collar town, is now a rich man's town. And we all suffer for it. Cat Brooks represents new bold leadership which is exactly what Oakland needs.

Re: “Schaaf Has 20-Point Lead in New Poll, But Is Still Well Short of a Majority

After Libby Schaaf's difficult first term (that she had a big hand in) that saw the following, she wants us to vote her in for a second term:

1. The tragic Ghost Ship fire which killed 36 people,
2. A deadly fire at a San Pablo apartment which housed poor folks and nonprofits who served them and rendered children, parents, and seniors homeless,
3. A sexual misconduct scandal which involved the rape of a minor by several Oakland police officers,
4. Homeless numbers soar to 6,000,
5. Selling of public land to out of state developers under market rate
6. Instituting impact fees which were so low that market rate developers gladly paid them so they didn't have to provide affordable units,
7. Failure to push for a moratorium on the sale of public land until a public lands policy could be adopted
8. Failure to push for the adoption of a public lands policy with the full engagement of the community,
9. "Housing" the homeless in tool sheds reminiscent of slave quarters,
10. Being okay with rat infested homeless encampments.
11. Stepping over the homeless to go upstairs to her office in City Hall,
12. Going to an African American church and telling parishioners to house the homeless in their spare bedroom while at the same time not taking her own advice,
13. Misplacing millions in funds allocated for affordable housing,
14. Bragging about standing up to Donald Trump meanwhile doing absolutely nothing to assist immigrants,
15. Bragging about helping to house the homeless when only 40 tiny homes to house 80 people, meanwhile 6,000 remain homeless,
16. Community nonprofits and individual Oaklanders doing the mayor's and councilpersons' job of providing clothes, toiletries, and food for our homeless brothers, sisters, elders, veterans, children, and mentally ill,
17. Being okay with children and babies being homeless.
18. Doing nothing to help blue collar workers and artists stay in Oakland,
19. Claiming to love the "secret sauce" (read, Black folks and their culture), but doing everything you can to kick them out Oakland where they have been living for decades or all their lives,
20. Oh, there is more, but I have to go now and attend a meeting on solving the crisis you created and are now ignoring.

Shame on you Mayor Libby Schaaf.

Given the above, I am hoping you are a one-term mayor and you retire to your home in the Hills where you are warm, comfy, well fed, and don't have to be worried about the real life problems of the Oaklanders you so claim to love.

Re: “Best Legacy Bearer

I absolutely love this article. Tall Paul and Tyrone Stevenson, Jr. aka King Baybe Champ are heroes in Oakland where there is a dearth of heroes. Keep soaring Tall Paul and watch your nephew continue to keep your legacy alive!
