Buzzcocks

When: Fri., June 10, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $35

Still kicking 36 years after forming in Manchester, England, Buzzcockshave arguably earned the right to be mentioned in a conversation of seminal punk bands that include the likes of The Clash, Sex Pistols, and Ramones. Last year's deluxe reissues of the band's first three albums -- Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites, and A Different Kind of Tension --reinforced how much of an influence the band's poppy-yet-choppy brand of punk influenced latter-day acts, including Nirvana and Supergrass. And while 2006's Flat-Pack Philosophy is the most recent Buzzcocks studio effort, the band re-recorded 24 classic songs for A Different Compilation, a new anthology that's an import-only release for now. Among the songs dotting this erstwhile greatest hits are "I Don't Mind," "Orgasm Addict," and, of course, "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)." These vintage punk gems and more will be getting doled out in earnest at Slim's(333 11th St., San Francisco) on Friday, June 10. 9 p.m., $35. Slims-SF.com
