For whatever reason, Buzzcocks tend to get overlooked in favor of the Sex Pistols and The Clash when the discussion gets around to seminal punk bands. Yet, their caffeinated brand of choppy-punk-riffs-meets-snappy-pop songcraft served as a blueprint for bands ranging from Hüsker to Green Day. The band's current lineup, featuring stalwarts Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle, proved with 2006's Flat-Pack Philosophy that it still has plenty of petrol left in the tank. The deluxe reissues of the band's first three albums -- Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites, and A Different Kind of Tension -- are packed with demos, singles, live shows, and John Peel sessions, showcasing the band's trademark blend of churning pop-punk rhythms, harmonies, and Diggle's dive-bombing guitar solos. Expect plenty of this vintage fare, (along with opening acts The Dollyrots and Images), when the legendary UK foursome hits the Uptown (1928 Telegraph Ave., Oakland) on Friday, June 4. 8:30 p.m., $35.
