Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

When: Sat., April 5, 7:30 p.m. and Wed., April 1, 8 p.m. 2009
Price: $39.50-$98

The fact that Bruce Springsteen took less than two years between albums is a small miracle in itself. But given how the normally apolitical Jersey native fully embraced the Obama presidential campaign, it's only fitting that his latest is called Working on a Dream. There are parts of Dream that are far more wobbly and overreaching than its 2007 predecessor Magic, but there's still plenty of lyrical depth and well-wrought musicality to merit further investment. Meanwhile, Springsteen and his E Street Band have seamlessly gotten back to their in-concert might despite having grown apart like an old married couple in the last fifteen years. The Boss and his musical minions will be holding court for one of those near three-hour spectacles at the HP Pavilion (525 W. Santa Clara St., San Jose) on Wednesday, Apr. 1. $38-95, 7:30 p.m. HPPSJ.
