Re: “Burnt Ramen Punk House Residents Thought City of Richmond Would Help. Instead, They Got Evicted.

I am an artist, musician and concert producer in Richmond. I believe that art and music are essential to the life of a community and that it's in the City's best interests to be artist friendly. But if there is any lesson to be learned from the Ghost Ship tragedy, it's that we have an obligation to provide safe spaces for the creation and presentation of art and music. There is no music or art event that is worth unknowingly sacrificing ones life for.

I know Mayor Butt and he has personally worked to support music and art Richmond. The City has found significant and possibly immediately dangerous conditions at Burnt Ramen. The city seems open to working with Mykee to get the place open again. He should stop whining and get to work.

Note to Charles Eroster: you are an Internet troll who spews foamy crap. Your idea of a cultural outing is probably a trip to Safeway, or maybe a Trump rally. As for artists "sucking at the tit of government," if you look at the City budget, police and fire safety cost about $92 million. Funding for arts and cultural programs, including the library is $5 million. So STFU.

Re: “Goodbye, Mr. Magnus

When he arrived, Chief Magnus had a tough assignment, and he got to it with intelligence, creativity, integrity and compassion. He set a high standard, and the City Manager and Council know will be hard pressed to find a better leader - but there is surely talent out there, and I think all of is in the City of Richmond are united in wanting to see the Chief's legacy continued.

Re: “Fantastic Negrito Detained by SFPD on Questionable Grounds at Outside Lands

What a piece of crap the Another Planet people are! If I was there I would have asked for my money back! And don't the SFPD got better things to do?

Re: “The Battle for Richmond's Soul

We live in Pt Richmond just a few blocks from the refinery. And almost every day, our mail contains Chevron produced hit pieces against one or more of the independent progressive candidates, and slick brochures making Nate Bates look like the hero he isn't. It's very dismaying to watch them try to buy the election. But corporations are people too, right?

Re: “When Corporations Want Profits, They Don't Ask for Permission

I echo Mary Eisenhart's comment. It's a crime to steal visual artists work, but no one seems to care that musician's are ripped off every day. Such is the age of all things digital. My suggestion: work in life-size bronze. It will be a while until 3D printers catch up to that!

Re: “Race-Baiting in Richmond

This is good reporting. It was sickening to see the money that the Beverage Industry and Chevron pumped into the Richmond election. It is a shame that the Soda Tax lost, and a shame that Corkey Booze decided that his ticket to fame was being a constant irritant to all his colleagues but Nat Bates, who is obviously bought and paid for by our neighbors at Chevron.
