Tanya Holland’s light and lovely nouvelle-soul cuisine has found a home at this retro-chic diner set among the lofts and warehouses of West Oakland. Breakfasts include house-made muffins and sticky buns, a delectable, custard-like egg and vegetable tart, and light-as-air buttermilk waffles with crunchy, juicy fried chicken. Lunchtime offers luscious, pineapple-glazed barbecued ribs, a below-par gumbo, the po’ boy sandwich of the day, and a marvelous array of side dishes (try the sweet potato-Gruyère gratin). Friendly, knowledgeable service.

Hours: Breakfast Tue.-Sat. 7-11:30 a.m.; lunch Tue.-Sat. 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
