For more than fifteen years, Bridges has been one of Contra Costa’s most luxurious restaurants, with high cathedral ceilings and windows looking out onto the garden that hides it from the street. A new owner has brought back an old chef, Kevin Gin, to reinvigorate the menu. Bridging both sides of the Pacific, Gin’s cuisine melds steak and bacon with edamame (fresh soybeans), and sautéed mahi mahi with truffled butter sauce and cognac cream. Sometimes he overstretches; sometimes he succeeds beautifully.
