Bridges & Bones/East Bay One Day Only Staff Pick

When: Fri., Nov. 22, 4-6 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 23, 4-6 p.m. 2019
Price: $11-$13
The big book of museum rules got lost when BAMPFA planned events for 2019, which means twelve Latinx dance artists will be invading the downtown Berkeley space in two evening performances. Like a flagship defying borders, the Bridges & Bones festival in its sixth year jumps the bay to bring site-specific movement installations and what’s certain to be political statements about home, cultural and gender identity, immigration, and more. It’s dance-theater that nods respectfully at tradition, but shakes its head adamantly at holding onto conventionality. With each night offering completely different programs, there’s good reason to camp out for 48 hours. Next year, maybe they’ll offer a sleepover and master classes as they do during the festival’s first week in S.F. Just sayin’.
