Brazilian Festival

When: Sat., Oct. 18, 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. 2008
Price: free

Brazilian culture has a special romantic allure for people in the US, who access it mostly through Bebel Gilberto records, the films of Fernando Meirelles, or the perennially popular martial arts form, capoeira. Such imports have enough prevalence in the Bay Area to justify businesses like Berkeley's Capoeira Arts Cafe, which will hold a special Brazilian Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18 at CivicCenterPark(2151 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley). In addition to arts, crafts, and food, this event will feature live music by John Santos, Bira Almeida, MestreAcordeon, and the alluring vocalist Destani Wolf (of Agua Libre and Slammin' All Body Band fame). 11 a.m.-6 p.m. CapoeiraArts.com
