Re: “The Future of the Food Movement

There will be no success for the food movement until it learns it's history, (or rather the history of the fight against cheap food, 1955-2000,) and about the biggest issue in the farm bill. The food movement mainly advocates in favor of agribusiness exploitation and destruction of the food movement, because it doesn't know what a farm bill is (ie. historically and ideally and in current impacts it's mainly nonspending market management, not spending) and how to fix it. What we see are so-called subsidiy reforms (tinkering with symptoms,) that preserve full benefits for commodity buyers, (the complete absence of market management for the major crops, since 1996). Food Movement advocacy, by these standards, is worse than the 1962 corporate CED proposal (see Foodopoly ch. 1). It's worse than we had under Earl Butz. It's worse than under Reagan, who signed the worst farm bill ever.
