Comedy
A dumbed-down screenplay and corny dialogue hamper this slack-adaisical tale (based on a true story) of a struggling, snobbish wine merchant in Paris (Alan Rickman) who helps a similarly cash-strapped Napa Valley vintner (Bill Pullman) dethrone the notion of French wine superiority in 1976. Would have been much more entertaining as a doc. YouTube character acting by Chris Pine, Freddy Rodriguez, and Rachael Taylor. Made for people for whom Sideways was too subtle (108 min.).
