Re: “County Health Director: Oakland's Housing Crisis Is a Prescription for Sicker, Shorter Lives

i walk the Albany Bulb very often where at one point over a 100 people had built shelter and a few homes for themselves all the city needed to do was add bathrooms and showers and maybe a kitchen.....and garbage pick up services

Instead the folks were paid to leave and many homestead under the gilman overpass .....which is regularly "swept " but the courageous ones return

Yesterday was a stunningly beautiful day at the bulb many new trails bushes cut back clean and no place where anyone could possibly rebuild their shelter.....can be easily spotted

for me the only reason I keep walking the bulb is because it's sacred land and was made more sacred by the spirit and self help strategies that homeless folks have

visit our shanty towns often take food, blankets, garbage bags

The housing will be built for a few the others are here to live and die in our streets...the least we can do is reach out and share our resources and compassion
