BookTini: Uptown Oakland Happy Hour Open House

When: Fri., Feb. 9, 6 p.m. 2018
Price: Free
BookTini is a national book club for women who share the same bottomless affection for books as they do for cocktails. Monthly meetups, known as Drinks and Discussion, feature a different genre each month, focusing mainly on literature by Black authors but also including writing from a large variety of ethnic and cultural groups. Founded in Oakland, BookTini has now expanded to 11 chapters nationwide. For those interested in joining the literary sisterhood, the Uptown Oakland chapter is hosting an open house at the Oeste Bar Cafe in downtown Oakland. In honor of Black History Month, February’s theme is “Black Excellence,” so currently members are reading The Meaning of Michelle: 16 Writers on the Iconic First Lady and How Her Journey Inspires Our Own. Grab a happy hour drink and learn about BookTini’s fun social events and annual service projects working to promote literacy.
