Re: “Lieutenant Governor Hopeful Gayle McLaughlin Wants to Take the East Bay’s Progressive Revolution to Sacramento

Richmond's finances are in horrible shape, now she wants to take her ideas to Sacramento (The State is already in enough financial trouble due to tax & spend politicians).

Her campaign slogan should be "Progressively Bankrupt"

Re: “Congresswoman Barbara Lee on President Trump: 'The Fight is Coming'

It's a shame that someone like this, could get elected to Congress.

She spends her time spending other peoples money to get her self re-elected to office; I wonder if she has ever had a job in the real world.

Progress made in the last 8 years; 25 trillion in debt, more people on public assistance , foreign policy decisions that have been a disaster.

There is nothing like a sore loser, especially when that sore loser is a big government liberal!

Re: “Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf on President Trump: 'Move Beyond Anger to Action'

It's a shame that Oakland has a Mayor that needs a civics lesson.

Her comments about progressive values is what got defeated in November, people are sick and tired of career politicians taking other peoples income to finance their personal and social agendas.

It's unfortunate that we have elected officials that take an oath of office and then do everything they can to violate the very oath they have taken to uphold the law.

Re: “Oakland Auto Dealer Got Big Tax Break

This is another good reason why Redevelopment Agencies were disbanded, it's not the responsibility of city government to be in the lending business, if you want to borrow money, go to a lending institution and put-up your own assets as collateral.

How many of these loans were never paid back and forgiven, which would constitute a gift of public funds.

Re: “Mayor Schaaf's Protest Plan Misses the Mark

Oakland is a case study, as it relates to the phrase, if you want to make sure that something is not done correctly, let the government do it.

The City Council (including Kaplan) are not competent to manage anything and the cities finances are perfect example, they are billions of dollars in debt of unfunded liabilities for pension costs and this does not include all the bond debt that has to be paid.

The city is bankrupt, but the politicians just refuse to admit it.

Re: “Software Dispute Could Imperil Oakland's Budget

It's interesting that the person in charge (David McPherson) blames everyone else for problems that occurred and takes no responsibility at all.

His position as Revenue/Tax Administrator requires that he does his diligence and know the City's processes and procedures.

If he has staff that are not capable or competent, then these employees should be terminated for cause.

Leadership is about taking responsibility, not attempting to blame others for your mistakes.
